Mapping of all road and birth registration centers in Nigeria

Brief

The Nigerian National Population Commission set out to vectorize roads and birth registration centers across the country. Milsat Technologies was designated to provide optimal technical support and technology input for the data acquisition procedure for all roads across 36 states with the FCT. Since these regions cover a large land area, Milsat divided them into smaller sections to make data collection faster and more efficient. Field teams were deployed to collect information, and to improve accuracy, local residents were trained and engaged in the mapping process.
All data collected were transmitted in the right statistical and map format for further presentation and query using custom dashboards and software applications- The Enumeration Pad and the Enumeration Dashboard
Milsat also collaboratively mapped all post offices across localities in Nigeria and the active population of citizens living in settlements like bridges, slums and other untypical residential areas.

On the ground project activities

  1. Data Collection: The Enumeration pad was employed to collect the data throughout this project. Through carefully designed questionnaires, key details like geolocation, name and length of roads and other important data regarding the birth registration centers were collected.
  2. Project Monitoring: Project supervisors were designated to every ward mapped to oversee and monitor mapping activities. Milsat provided on-ground technical support throughout the project ensuring that data was collected accurately and the overall project ran smoothly.
  3. Data Visualization: The Enumeration dashboard was used to seamlessly transmit acquired data to the base office in real time without the introduction of data discrepancies. Our interactive dashboard allowed Coordinators to visualize and supervise the inflow of data collected in real time
